We need to catch up
I took a long hiatus this holiday -- here's what's going on with Souls Like Wheels
So… it’s been a while.
You might be wondering why you haven’t heard from me in couple months. Or maybe you don’t really care — that’s totally okay too!
Well, in my defense, I’ve been busy and I have proof!
A Quick Recount of the Last Few Months
A few fun life events + an increasingly demanding job led to me taking a break from this substack. As much as I wanted to be writing, making, and talking to you all, I think we can all agree that if you don’t have the energy to write thoughtful content, there’s not much point in writing at all.
So… what kept me so busy that I couldn’t write quality newsletters? Here’s the shortlist:
I got married.
Hooray marriage! Andy and I opted to skip the whole engagement phase and planned a civil wedding this fall.
In line with my tendency to buck the norm, we also skipped we what considered to be a “dragged out” wedding plan — we planned the wedding in 10 days.
It was quick, but we cleaned up nice! I’ll post more about this in coming newsletters, but here’s one of my favorite photos:
While the wedding itself was low key (but memorable!), Andy and I took some time to drive back to our hometowns and spend a few weeks visiting family.

Ski season arrived!
The skiing this season in Colorado is exceeding expectations! We received a ton of early-season snow and it just hasn’t stopped.
I haven’t taken a whole lot of photos while skiing this year, but here’s a video of happy Teo while out on a short backcountry outing:
Work became…interesting.
Like most people, I have a day job. It’s challenging most of the time, and very demanding some of the time.
Well, lately it has been demanding all of the time. I’m working early and late most workdays and also working part of the weekends. I’ve tried to make time for creative hobbies, but sometimes you just have to put you head down and grind, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing since November.
While I’m not out of the woods yet, I can feel myself becoming more energized over the last couple of weeks and I have a full week of PTO coming up in February for a ski trip to Jackson, Wyoming.
I wish I had something more interesting or optimistic to say here, but sometimes live is what it is.
State of the Craft
So where does that leave the state of the craft? Well turns out when life becomes busy and full of changes, hobbies fall to the wayside. It hasn’t all been a loss though — here are a couple crafts I’ve dabbled in that I’d love to share with you all.
Woodworking in Pennsylvania:
When Andy and I visited my family in Pennsylvania, we made full use out of the family woodshop. And while work mostly obliterated my chances to work on my projects, Andy had more time available and got hooked on woodworking.
He became a coaster guru in about 72 hours and made enough sets of coasters to gift to our immediate family and friends. Here’s our woodworking projects on display:
I Started Making Hats!
Right now I’m hooked! I don’t have much time for crafting, so I’ve been using both my knitting needs and my hand-crank knitting “machine” cto hurn out hats when I have a few hours of downtime.
What do you think of these designs?

These hats are made of 100% Merino wool are so squishy, warm, and comfortable. They’re super functional: reversible, double-knit for extra warmth, and some are machine washable. And obviously they’re a little funky — perfect for ski town shenanigans and winter adventures!
Right now, I have a few for sale which can be purchased both Etsy shop OR my new website.

Let’s Chat!
Have you been pulled away from your hobbies lately? How are you managing and do you have a way back to your creative endeavors?
Do you have any big life events going on or in the works? Tell me in the comments and let’s celebrate together!
Okay, what’s the quickest wedding you’ve ever heard of? Did they beat my 10-day wedding plan?

Congrats on your wedding Sara! And those hats look cool :).
Double knit/reversible hats are the best! Love your colors. And congrats on your marriage!
