The foliage map is saying that my area is at peak right now, but I think they got ahead of themselves. The only trees that have turned so far are the ones that suffered during our very hot, dry summer. I think we usually reach peak foliage in late October. I want the trees to hold onto their leaves as long as possible before the gray days of winter.

Oh that's good to know!

They have a survey on the site where you can report your local conditions. I'll be curious to see what they do with the response people provide and if they can make the app more accurate next year!

I love that Grandma Moses winter scene painting. I'm originally from New York and I remember seeing some folk art in some local galleries and art shops.

Isn't it such a relaxing, quaint scene? I'm originally from Northern Pennsylvania so I love her winter landscape... rolling hills, hardwood trees, maple syrup.... I love it all!

I love that you live in a part of the world where Fall, foliage and leaf peeping is such a thing, there is an app! Brilliant. I'm in the South of England and an unseasonably hot Summer and dry Autumn means our trees are just crisp this year rather than glorious.

Love the style of Grandma Moses- it's quite close to some European folk art. I love illustrations that take their heart from nature and tradition. New reader from the UK, glad to have found you!

Love your article and writing style! The beginning of autumn is my favourite part of the year. I haven't thought much about Folk Art, but thanks to your article I feel more educated and will pay more attention next time I come across Folk Art :)
